Hawks Do Not Share - (Set time: 9:00 PM)
Hawks Do Not Share
George Lewis III and Jeremy Wilkins are no strangers to each other. The two multi-instrumentalists have been collaborating in the studio and onstage in a variety of projects since the early '00s. So, in 2012, when Lewis asked his longtime friend to help put together some material for his solo project The Other Also, there wasn't any idea that it would go beyond a new EP.

But when they started collaborating, the mood shifted away from Lewis' acoustic-based tendencies and towards more programmed beats, glistening synth tones, and electronic-based production. Once they realized they were doing something entirely new, it only made sense to give it its own name: Hawks Do Not Share.

The band has only grown in strength and numbers since then. The two were joined by another strong musical presence, and an incredible solo artist in her own right, Britt White, who adds her lovely vocals and some guitar/keyboard textures to the mix. More recording and some jaw-dropping live performances by the band followed in her wake.

With all the pieces in place, Hawks Do Not Share are ready to finally unleash on the world the fruit of their labors: their debut, full-length HDNS.

The 10 tracks on this self-produced, self-released LP are lush pop gems, emanating the kind of warmth that makes you want to curl up and bask in. The guitars shimmer like an early 4AD Records fever dream and the songs get buoyed on delicate waves of keyboard melodies.

Just as Lewis shifted away from a more traditional sound, the focus of lyrics followed suit. Throughout HDNS, he says, he has aimed to "take something specific that I'm thinking about and write about it more generally. I'm writing a lot less lyrics than I usually do. My other form of songwriting is more story-based. This time, I cut the story out and kept the imagery, leaving more for the listener to relate to."

There's plenty to connect with in these songs. Who hasn't at one point felt like proclaiming to a loved one that they "crumble underneath the weight of your words" (from "Crumble Lines")? Or thought to themselves, "The world outside is alive tonight/but I'm resigned to stay inside" (from "Break Even")? This is the collective unconscious set to music.

Can't wait to hear this album? We can't blame you. HDNS will be released digitally via the band's own imprint, Predator Friendly Records, followed by a gorgeous-looking vinyl release. And before you know it, Hawks Do Not Share will be descending upon your hometown for a performance. We can only hope you're ready for them.
The Mighty Missoula - (Set time: 8:00 PM)
The Mighty Missoula
In a saturated world of instrumental post-rock bands, The Mighty Missoula are keeping things simple as a three-piece. Like their namesake, which triggered cataclysmic flooding of the Pacific Northwest, they produce lush and temperamental streams of soundtrack-esque nostalgia.

In live performances, they aim to infuse the patience of Japan's MONO and Scotland's Mogwai with a dash of late-90s era Indie Rock.

The Mighty Missoula recently released their debut EP "Au Nord"
